Participate in a Clinical-Research Study

Matching Assessment and Treatment for CHildren (MATCH) is part of a Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) funded project to personalize psychosocial interventions for children with behavioural difficulties.

To improve decisions on best fit for treatment, children and parents referred for psychosocial treatment will complete an integrated clinical-research assessment. Some inclusion criteria are:

  1. Children between the ages of 6 – 12 years old
  2. Disruptive behaviour in the "at risk" or clinical range on standardized measures
  3. Cognitive functioning above the borderline range of intellectual functioning
  4. No evidence or query of Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

Treatments offered following MATCH:

  • Group Intervention
  • Incredible Years Parent Program-Dinosaur Social Skills Program – Children 6-8 years
  • Coping Power (Parent and Child Groups) –  Children  9-12 years
  • Individualized Parent-Child Intervention

Referrals can be made by a physician to CAMH centralized intake (ACCESS CAMH) with parent consent (Referral form found at http://www.camh.ca/en/hospital/Referrals_to_CAMH/Documents/CAMH_Referral_Form.pdf).

Assessments are completed on an ongoing basis and treatment spots filled on a first-come-first serve basis.

Inhibition Study

Inhibition is a very short study conducted to better understand how children with behavioural difficulties think and learn. Children and parents who wish to particiapte will still complete the integrated clinical-research assessment for the MATCH Clinical Trial, with an additional 30 minute portion for the child. Some inclusion criteria for this study are:

  1. Children between the ages of 8 – 12 years old
  2. Disruptive behaviour in the "at risk" or clinical range on standardized measures
  3. Cognitive functioning above the borderline range of intellectual functioning
  4. No evidence or query of Autism spectrum disorder (ASD)

Completing the Inhibition Study at the end of the MATCH assessment will have no impact on treatment choice, but will provide us with information to better understand how children think and how it effects the way they learn.

Referrals can be made by a physician to CAMH centralized intake (ACCESS CAMH) with parent consent (Referral form found at http://www.camh.ca/en/hospital/Referrals_to_CAMH/Documents/CAMH_Referral_Form.pdf).
